And today we are discussing high tension from 2003, also known as Hot Tension or Switchblade Romance,

directed by Alexandra Aja, written by Alexandra Aja and Gregory Levasseur,

starring Cecile de France, Mai Wen, and Philippe Nahan.

In this film, when Alex takes her friend Marie home to meet her family in the French

countryside, their plans are upended by a ruthless killer.

If you're new to the show, we're going to discuss some spoiler-free background info for the first 15 or 20 minutes here.

And then after that, we're going to play some transition music and move into spoiler mode.

So if you haven't seen the film, once you hear that music, duck out and go watch it because we will do a plot

and Bang Bang Bill. People are ready to hear us talk about this one as it is a

staple of New French extremity. I'd also call it a home invasion film, a slasher film. And here we are.

We are discussing it. I think this is our third new French extremity film after martyrs and inside.

We also watched a movie that we did a Patreon episode for that really felt like

New French extremity, but I think maybe it was just like a little past that time period to be called that.
