Folks, it's hunting season, and the month of September is reaching its pinnacle where

Big Mule Deer shed their velvet exposing their hard antlers, and elk across the spine of the Rocky Mountain West are ramping up

and bugling and entering that pre-Rut stage that phase where hunting them can be so good and yet so frustrating with

archery equipment. It's a beautiful time of year to be in the mountains.

It's a grand time of year to be stalking

Alpine country mule deer with a stick and string

or penetrating the deep dark forests

and high country timber stands in an effort to find and call a big bull elk.
