Hunter Biden has been convicted on federal gun violations.

He could face up to 25 years in jail and nearly a million dollars in fines,

although it is very likely he won't be subjected to the maximum penalties. His father, Joe Biden,

has promised he will not use the power of his office to pardon his son. I believe this is the right

thing to say as the sitting president, and it will be the right thing to do if we ever get to see him fulfill this pledge. But as a mother myself, I can't help but wonder, politics aside, what would I do? I have to say, if I'm being as objective as possible, I don't know if I could let my son go to prison on a charge like this if I had the

power to prevent that. It is almost every parent's instinct to protect their child, even when they do

wrong. It's a natural instinct that is so strong, if not guarded correctly, it can lead to a

perverted type of parenting that dismisses all wrongdoing. You've met these

kids before at your child's school or in youth group or just around the neighborhood. They're

troublemakers, but they never pay the consequences at home. It's a lost cause trying to get these

parents, usually mom, to discipline or correct offensive behavior that has hurt someone else.

You know that mom is just going to defend her kid, place blame elsewhere, or pretend to be shocked

while knowing full well she doesn't plan to do a thing about it. And the children of those parents

are never people we enjoy in society at large. They grow into users, narcissists,

and social leeches. They aren't the most revered among us. Typically, they become the most pity.

Looking at Hunter Biden, it is clear this is how he's been parented his whole life. Obviously,

his behavior has been excused, defended, and ignored time and time again

by his father and other family members. Combined with the life in the spotlight, surrounded by

the political swamp, it has turned Hunter Biden into a very distasteful person, to say the least.
