Ivan is the chair of the Center for Liberal Strategies in Sophia

of posing deep questions coming up with surprising, sometimes paradoxical answers that is really unraveled. He is the author, among other

books of The Light That Failed a Reckoning, a really interesting treatment of why it is that the promise

of liberalism was in many ways dashed in Central Europe, a book that has many implications for

how to understand what is the current crisis

of liberalism in the United States.

And so today we talked about what the fundamental meaning of the dawning Trump era might

be, what it will mean for America standing in the world, what kind of predicament it puts other democracies

like Europe into. And most fundamentally, what the lasting change from this era will be.

The Roosevelt error even points out did not end at the end of FDR's presidency. If the Trump era does not end in 28,
