Hello and welcome to Storytime for grownups.

I'm Faith Moore, and this season we're reading Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.

Each episode, I'll read one chapter from the book,

pausing from time to time to give brief explanations so it's easier to follow along.

It's like an audiobook with built-in notes.

So brew a pot of tea, find a cozy chair,

and settle back.

The first thing I need to know is, are we okay?

Have we recovered from episode nine of Jane Eyre?

I have, I will now confess to you.

I feel like we've spent enough time together.

We know each other well enough. I can make this confession and you will understand.

I had to do several takes of the last part of chapter nine and as I was reading it because I was sobbing too hard when Helen died and the conversation that Helen and Jane have and then her death and

then the gravestone I was crying too hard to be intelligible on the audiobook portion and I had

to stop and go back and compose myself and do it again. How are you? I hope you're okay. That's quite a difficult

chapter to get through and write to me and tell me how it affected you. I would love to hear.

You know, I heard from some people so far about the chapter, but not so much about your emotional

state. So I would like to know and check in with you how you're

feeling after chapter 9. But today we are moving on. We're moving on to chapter 10 and things

really do move on at this point as you will see. So welcome back if you've been with us along the way
