Not only do we talk to our old friend, John Zmirak, who is being wound up for whatever beautiful rant he's going to have for us,

but right now we get to talk to an old friend of mine named Joe Lakante, officially he's known as Dr. Joseph Lakante of the King's College Historian Professor of History,

and generally an historian of the first water, Joe Lakante, welcome to the program.

Okay, so listen, you, my friend, you've written so much.

First of all, I've known you for years, we've got a love for C.S. Lewis, you wrote a book on Lewis and Tolkien,

and people should check that out.

You're working on the documentary, I want to ask you about that, but first I want to talk to you about

you were on CNN with SE Cup talking about Pope Francis' new doctrine on the death penalty.

Now even the term doctrine strikes me as odd.

When the Pope is not speaking what's called ex-Cathedra, he's not speaking in an official mode.

He's just talking.

How can he establish doctrine?
