Good evening, children. It's Granny McDuff, ready with a story. So make yourselves comfy,

and I'll begin. Once upon a time, there lived a husband and wife, and there's some, who was called

William. One day, William's mother decided to make a little treat.

So she made a Johnny cake with a little extra sugar and put it in the oven.

Now William, you watch the Johnny cake while it's baking.

Your father and I will be tending to the garden.

So William's parents went outside, and William watched the oven.

But he soon became distracted and forgot to keep an eye on the cake.

Suddenly, he heard a noise.

And when he looked up, William watched as the oven door popped open and out

and out jumped Johnny Cake.

He rolled onto the floor.

William ran to the door to shut it.

But Johnny Cake was too quick.

He rolled right out.

Down the steps he went and straight to the long road which led into town.

William ran after him,

but Johnny Cake was very fast.

Mother! Father!

He cried as he chased Johnny Cake.

When his parents saw what was happening,

they threw down their tools and joined their son.
