0:34.7 | Now the patella is a kneecap and there's a tendon attached to the top part of that bone |
0:39.5 | which is then connected to your quadricep muscles on your front part of your thigh. |

0:49.0 | Now sometimes it could be tight hamstrings but most of the time it's going to be a tight |

0:54.8 | And you're going to have a difficulty of bringing your foot upwards. |
0:58.6 | So when you bring your foot upward that's called dorsiflexion. |
1:01.6 | So you won't be able to do that as well. |

1:06.0 | So there's an interesting 2011 study that shows that when you have reduced dorsiflexion |
1:11.8 | which is tight calves, that is going to increase your risk of getting patella tendonitis |
1:16.9 | by a factor of 16x. |
1:19.2 | So you want to avoid that condition because that's going to affect your ability to run, jump |
1:23.6 | and do other types of motion. |
