Summary

Normally our show is a career retrospective, but today we’re doing something different -- interviewing an artist at the start of her arc. Our guest today grew up in hip-hop. This is a woman who has been reciting Lil Kim bars since before grade school. She started writing poetry at age 11. She’s a novelist, a rapper, and a songwriter. Maybe you saw her burn it up on the Breakfast Club last year or caught her acapella flows on IG. She’s working with Dave East, Joe Moses, DJ Clark Kent, and OT Genesis. Safe to say: If you’re looking for someone who cares about lyrics deeply, you’ve found a new artist to love. Ladies and gentlemen… Lady London is joining the People’s Party today!

You should check that out. He's incredible. The reason I say you should check that out is because

0:30.2

he's always been incredible. He's always been incredible. He's always been my favorite MC but a lot

0:34.4

of people did not understand and I'm not putting you in that group because I feel like you study

0:38.7

enough to know. A lot of people didn't understand how dope he was until he got on that Funk Flex

0:43.0

freestyle. And it took him a career of being a go-to MC to even get to that now. You went on sway

0:51.6

and they challenged you. And they was aggressive with it. He got up, was banging on a table.

0:57.2

And even after you came hard the first time, they was like, everybody got at least one verse.

1:02.1

And when he said that, I was like, that's not accurate sway. Not everybody has at least one good

1:07.2

verse. But I get what's happening because Clark Kent gave you that cosine. And Chino XL at that

1:14.2

point had called up and gave you that cosine. I want to get it out in a minute too. So he's like,

1:18.0

okay, well now I need to really see. And you really, you spazed out. Were you nervous to do that?

1:23.7

Oh my God. It was my most nervous show I've ever done in my life. I don't like go to interviews

1:29.9

or podcasts like that because I don't like most people's dialogue. So I usually know. I don't like

1:36.2

poor journalism. But welcome to the People's Party. I know I'm blessed to be here thank y'all.

1:41.1

But yeah, most people's journalism is like terrible to me. I agree. Which is why we started this show.

1:46.0

That's why we started this show because hip hop journalism is terrible. It's terrible. Yeah.

1:50.4

It is terrible. But I've been to some good ones. I've been to some ones that I'm like, yeah,
