This is CBS, I on the World. I'm John Batchelor. I welcome Jim McTag, former Washington editor for Barron's Magazine, now a novelist in Lancaster County,

the best county in the Keystone State, determinative on election night for the successful candidacy of former President Trump,

now President-elect Trump.

Jim McTag, early on the evening when we were speaking, right after the polls closed, enjoyed himself by saying, John, Harris is up 10,000 votes.

Did you expect that?

Or something to that effect.

Mr. McTag, a very good evening to you.

Now that we can look back, and I'll give the results of the county in just a moment, those

first 10,000 votes, where do you believe they came from?

Good evening, Jim.

Good evening, John.

I think they came from Lancaster City, which is a blue island in red, Lancaster County, and from

Columbia Barrow on the river, both which have very heavy populations of Puerto Ricans.

So, you know, not only do you have a lot of Democrats there, but a lot of offended Puerto Ricans.

And I think they counted the votes there first and made it appear like a real horse race.

So I appreciate them trying to excite us and entertain us.

But as you know, Harris didn't hold on.

Now, is this the Lancaster City that's running a deficit because it spent all the COVID money and is going to have to raise taxes 10% every year?

One and the same.

In fact, the city voters voted in favor of a home rule charter, which will allow the city council more taxing power.

It will allow them to raise taxes and they intend to raise income taxes
