China History podcast with me is Mr. Andrew Shaw. And as mentioned, as you probably surmised, Andrew's

originally from England and he walked away from the BBC as a reporter to move to

China and become an apprentice in one of the many Jade workshops there. After learning his craft,

Andrew set up his own workshop and gallery and as the only foreigner working as a master carver in China.

He's also appeared on China National TV talking about Jade.

Andrew's written two books on Jade.

Both were critically acclaimed, and one of them was a bestseller.

And I invited him back to the CHB to talk about his latest book and all the history,

legends, myths, and strange facts about Jade, known by many in China as the Tianshir, or

Stone of Heaven. I also want to talk about Andrew's first book, Jade Life, which covers the

history of Jade in China. The new book, Just Out, is called a Jade Treasury,

and Andrew tells the story of Jade in a way I, for one, particularly enjoy.
