We'll talk about of course the legendary 30-30 Winchester in Marlons that are some of the most loved deer rifles across America.

And we'll dive into where to get them today, whether or not to choose a vintage version or a modern reproduction.

Let's start with why you'd hunt the backcountry with a lever action rifle.

And the first thing I want to throw out there is, well, it's fun.

Okay, for the same reason that bow hunters sometimes decide to take on the additional challenge of

hunting with a long bow or a recurve or black powder hunters muzzle odor guys

today choose to hunt with a flutlock long rifle rather than a modern

inline muzzle-loader shooting synthetic black powder substitute with a plastic sabo jacketed bullet. It's just fun.

Sometimes the emphasis isn't all on success or on the

animal you're pursuing.

It's on the quality and the type of the experience.
