James Acaster here, comedian and music fan, and in 2017, I had a breakdown. I dealt with that breakdown

by as much music in 2016 as I possibly could.

As a result, I now own over 700 albums that came out in 2016 and I'm convinced it's the

greatest year for music of all time. But it's not enough me being convinced. I also want to

convince each and every single one of you, plus a guest every week.

This week, my guest is Maisie Adam, and we're talking about something better by Hartley C. White and Friends.

Hartley C. White is a Jamaican-born musician, but he lives in Queens in New York.

He's been making music for over 35 years, and he's invented his own style of music.

According to him, I agree with him personally, but for any of you people getting rolled up, just claimant, according to him.

This style of music incorporates a lot of different stuff.

There's spoken word in there. There's elements of, faint elements of punk and reggae, dub, things like that.

We all die. We'll stop.

But that makes it sound more traditional and more straight down the line than it is.

This is a very avant-garde, different style of music.

It's challenging, but it's also fun.

It's got a lot of warmth to it.

A lot of open-heartiness is quite earnest, in my opinion.
