And as promised, we are going to dive into some of the issues in the manifestos.

Basically, we're reading them all so that you don't have to.

And we're going to focus on particular issues.

This episode, we are focusing on money. So that's the economy, that's taxes, that's the cash in your pocket, that's businesses. We're focusing on the larger parties, but we will mention the others where relevant. And I'm joined by Kirsten and Phil today. Hello. Hello there.

Hello. Both of you are in Hollywood. I am in Glasgow for those that care about that sort of thing.

Okay, so money, it is the all-important issue, isn't it, in this election? As in all elections,

potentially, how much cash everybody has in their pocket and to spend how much cash the government has.

In general, we're going to go through the parties and then we're going to do a bit of competing and contrasting as well.

Shall we start with you, Phil? You've been looking at the Conservative manifesto. How would you sum up,

first of all, their plan for the economy? I seem to have drawn the two longest manifestos to

read for this exercise, which is nice.

Yeah, so the Conservatives, I guess, taking the sort of wide angle view of it, it feels like

the Tory view of the economy is a bit, it's kind of old-fashioned conservatism in a way,

after a period where, frankly, they haven't been very old-fashioned conservative.
