I know what you're thinking but why don't you just trust me? He's a pretty special kind of a guy and a sort of a classic 60s, 70s kind of a poet he taught at Leeds Polytechnic Martin Bell I should say that his

dates are 1918 to 1978. 1978.

Yeah, Leeds Polytechnic.

I went to Birmingham Polytechnic myself and I'm a great champion of the Polytechnic

system, proper working class higher education, and one of his students said of

Martin Bell and I quote, the poet,

hunched over his beer,

chain smoking,

talking about poetry,

always and most intensely talking about poetry.

He sounds great.

Martin Bell he was a member of a thing known as the group, which was a group of poets who would get together.

And this sounds very courageous.

This happened sort of between 1955, 1965.

They would send their poems into the group in advance
