I think that we've seen Christless conservatism actually fail on a variety of different fronts.

And that's because Christless conservatism is going to be very, very subjected and susceptible to populism and popularity.

We get to the edge of our reason, and that's when we have to stop.

If we keep walking, we would tumble over the cliff, but we don't just stop there in frustration.

We stop there in awe and wonder. It's when we get to the edge of our reason

that we kneel down and worship God. The church militant in some sense looks like maybe it's

smaller on earth than it was a few years ago. But the church itself is only growing, right? We only

add to the church because when we bury people, we're not losing them. They're transferring the church itself is only growing, right? We only add to the church, because when we bury

people, we're not losing them. They're transferring the church triumphant. Every time we baptize

someone, we're just getting bigger. UC Berkeley alumni who still support the freedom of speech,

Well, I read the Associated Press story from beginning to end rather carefully, and the headline,

at least the way I read it, never quite panned out. The headline is, Protestant denominations try new ideas as they face declines in members and money.

There's no doubt that the story of Mainline Protestantism's decline is an old story.

I just couldn't find anything new in the AP telling of it.
