Welcome to a rare pre-show caveat just to say that Christmas comes early because Michael Hoffman has been on my shortlist for a long time.

And when we set this up, the agreement was only to do an hour.

But as we eased into it, I asked him if he had time for a few more questions.

And what do you know?

I didn't have to change our usual format at all.

But it does kick off with some very, we got to fit a lot of stuff into just an hour sort of energy.

But also, of course, with an interview that's this important to me, my primary recording file somehow got corrupted.

I tried everything and it just wouldn't unpack itself.

And I swear this never happens to me.

But luckily, I have backup recordings, but my side on this one sounds a little subpar.

Thankfully, the guest side was unaffected, and that's what's most important.

But those two things combined had me feeling

like giving a little pre-show context was an order. It feels a little bit bitter on the audio

quality, but a little sweet on the unexpected extra show length. And ain't that just like life?
