And I'm Jack Welch, and we are excited to be able to talk about the first six chapters in the Book of Mormon with a little B.

Yeah, but this is a little confusing sometimes with this title.

But these first six or seven chapters cover a period of 63 years.

And we get a lot more on Mormon as we expand and go through even his son's records.

But this is a real great capsule to learn a lot about this wonderful prophet.

And during these 63 years, these six chapters, we learned that he retrieves the plates. He received them from,

it appears like it's not a relative. Mormon says he is the son of Mormon, and he gets them from

a man who notices him being very wise by age 10. You know, that youthfulness of Mormon is,

maybe some reason that he was so interested in some young men like...

The Stripling Warriors.

Stripling Warriors or Captain Moronai and others.

In fact, let me just give a few dates that we're given in the scriptures.

He's 10 when he's called as the record keeper.

He doesn't start the record keeping until later, but he's 10 when he starts called as the record keeper. He doesn't start the record keeping until later,

but he's 10 when he starts. When he's 11, he's moved down from the northern lands to the

southern lands around the area of Zarahemla that's been rebuilt. He's called as a prophet at age 15.

He's called as a general at age 16. He retrieves the larger plates and begins that editing at age 35.

And then at 52, he refuses to fight offensively.

And he has a few years there, three to five years, it appears in the text,

that I think he had time to dive into the editing process.

But by age 65, he goes back and talks about the records again, and at age 74 has his final battle and dies.
