0:00.0	Let's pretend like you're sitting in a fast and testimony meeting and somebody comes up to the pulpit to bear their testimony.
0:07.8	And at the end of their testimony, they say, I know that the church is true.
0:12.8	And then they finish and sit down.
0:15.4	And then the next person comes up to the very same pulpit and they bear their testimony.
0:19.1	At the very end, they say, brothers and sisters, I know that the gospel is true. And then they sit down. So here's the
0:26.0	question. Is there a functional or a major difference between those two testimonies? If somebody
0:36.4	says, I know the church is true or I know the gospel is true,
0:39.1	often the way we, as common speech goes in the church, we sometimes interchange those two words
0:47.8	and think that we're saying the same thing. When you open up the scriptures to Third Nephi 27, you're going to see
0:57.0	this incredible chapter where the first half of the chapter is all about the church of Jesus Christ,
1:04.2	and the second half of the chapter is all about the gospel of Jesus Christ, and he very, very
1:09.3	clearly shows their uniquely complementary differences,
1:15.6	how they work together for him to fulfill all of his promises and to keep all the covenants
1:22.6	which have been made with us on the earth. So you'll notice when it begins, the disciples of Jesus in the new world,
1:31.3	they have this question, they have this problem. What do we name the church? Jesus established
1:36.3	this church among us, but we don't have a name for it. So they're praying. All of a sudden,
1:41.3	the Lord appears. He came and stood in verse 2 in the midst of them,
1:45.8	and he says, what will ye that I shall give unto you? By the way, just as a side note here,
1:51.7	isn't it interesting how often God asks questions of people, the answer to which God already knows, but there's something beautiful about him getting
2:05.8	people to act, use their agency, and to ask before he just comes and gives them things that
2:12.7	he already knows better than they do, what they need. So here it is again. He's asking them this question. And
2:18.8	their answer is, well, we want to know the name whereby we shall call thy church, because there
