0:00.0	Hello there. My name is Tyler Griffin and this is Scripture Study Insights by Scripture Central.
0:06.5	Today, Maroni chapters 1 through 6. Before we dive into chapter 1 today, I want to give a few items of overview as well as foundation setting for these chapters today.
0:19.2	It's kind of unique. You get six chapters, but they only cover
0:25.1	about two and a half pages total. So there isn't very much column space. When you get to the
0:32.5	book of Moroni, it's fascinating to note that in the 1830 edition of the Book of Mormon, it is the only
0:42.5	multi-chapter book in the entire Book of Mormon that is exactly the same chapter that
0:51.9	has exactly the same chapter breaks as the 1830 edition. They're retained here.
0:59.0	The original authors on the Book of Mormon plates, they were the ones who would make some
1:07.5	chapter breaks and those are fairly large if you look in the 1830 edition of the
1:13.5	Book of Mormon. They cover much bigger chunks of scripture than our current Book
1:21.7	of Mormon does. But when you get to Moroni, it's identical. All of the chapter breaks that Moroni put in,
1:30.3	they're retained here. Keep in mind, it was Orson Pratt in the 1879 edition of the Book
1:36.6	of Mormon who first changed the original chapters and made them shorter in most cases and put them into verses and set
1:49.8	up the first time stamps that we had in the Book of Mormon. That was 1879. So here we
1:59.1	come to the Book of Moroni, these 10 chapters.
2:02.9	We're going to cover the first six today.
2:05.8	And it's also the only major book in the Book of Mormon that doesn't have a single,
2:13.1	and it came to pass. There's not one because and it came to pass is a literary technique or a
2:22.9	literary form to help push a narrative along to tell a story and the different parts of the
2:31.6	story. Well, in the book of Moroni, there is no story. It's
2:37.0	Maroni who opens in chapter one saying, now I'm Maroni after having made an end of abridging
2:45.0	the account of the people of Jared, that's the book of ether, I had supposed not to have written more, but I have not
