start your day with a morning cup of murder. For in March 31st, 1932, Richard T. Antoine grew up

in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, graduated high school in 1949, received his bachelor's in history from Williams College in

1953, his master's in international relations from Johns Hopkins University in 1955,

and finally his Ph.D. in anthropology and Middle Eastern studies from Harvard University in

1963.

Prior to receiving his Ph.D., Richard began a career in ethnographic fieldwork in Jordan,

and over the next four decades, lived intermittently in the small Sunni Muslim village in Kifur Amah

and studied the Quran with the local self-educated preacher while doing

fieldwork in Lebanon, Iran, and in Greece. He also taught at Manchester University, Harvard

University, Indiana University, the American University of Beirut, Binghampton University,

the University of Chicago, and Cairo University.

He was an incredibly accomplished man with a deep knowledge and passion for Middle Eastern
