We've talked about it in the past, but there's been anticipation that the leader of the PKK,

Abdelow Jalan, who's been imprisoned by the Turkish state for many years now, would issue,

sometime in the next few months, would issue a call for the PKK to lay down its arms

and begin a peace process with the Turkish state. That happened on Thursday. Leaders of the People's

Equality and Democracy Party or DEM party, which is the successor, several parties down the line of

Turkey's pro-Kurdish political movement, met with Ojalan in

captivity on Thursday morning, and then brought a statement from him to be read. The party gathered,

and they issued the statement from O'Joland calling on the PKK to, as I say, lay down its arms.
