I welcome my good colleagues, Joseph Bumeir, executive director of Secure Free Society,

and Ernesto Aruja, former foreign minister of the Republic of Brazil,

overseas traveling. We turn immediately to a success. Daniel Maboah elected President of Ecuador,

a small troubled state to fill out the offices of the previous president who resigned has now been

elected for a full term by the people of Ecuador in a surprise given that the polling pointed to

his opponent, Ms. Gonzalez, winning or well ahead before the vote. It is a week since the surprising success of Mr.

Naboa. I mentioned we don't know whether his visit to Mara Lago in the last weeks was determinative or not.

But I'm looking for positives out of this. Joseph, this is a very troubled land of narco-terrorism, of outside interference,

of poverty, of course, and loose relations, undefined relations with the neighborhood.

What do you see is the major challenge for President Naboa now that he succeeded to continue in office. Good evening to you, Joseph.

Good evening, John. His major challenge is security, security, security. That's his immediate challenge

because Ecuador has seen a tremendous uptick in transnational organized crime. You have criminal

groups all the way from as far away as Albania, the Albanian

mafia, to local groups that are born out of prisons like the Choneros that are taking that country

over, particularly the coast of the country and the ports, and it's getting very violent. And obviously

that that impact, the insecurity impacts the economy and impacts the well-being.

It comes back to the public safety of Ecuadorians.

Now, that said, I think this is President Naboh's big priority.

I mean, this was something that he focused on in the year that he had in office.
