Believers are called on to live in two worlds at the same time.

We're living in this world because God has chosen this time for us to exist on this planet,

but if you're a Christian, you're seated with Christ in heavenly places, which means you

really belong to another world, a better country, you're a citizen of heaven, and learning to

live in the world but not of the world. To use the wording of the Lord

Jesus Christ himself is really the great challenge, isn't it? The tension between the life that

we must live here and yet keeping our eyes on what is there. We come to this great struggle in 1 John chapter number

two in some famous verses that are often quoted and I think little lived. The Bible says in 1 John

chapter 2 and verse number 15, love not the world, neither of the things that are in the world.

If any man love the world, the love of the father is not in him.

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the

pride of life is not of the father, but is of the world.

And the world passeth away and the lust thereof,

but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.

So what is the world?
