So my recovery from the parental leave period continues apace.

Very excited for that and continue to hope that I will keep that pace up.

On to today's conversation.

Today's episode is about Gaza, Israel, and the

future of the Palestinian people. One of the big questions before Trump came into his second

term was to what degree would he be, quote, unquote, normal, would he return to basically

a 2019-2020 period, or would Trump 2.0 be discernibly different than what came before?

That was answered pretty quickly in terms of Trump clearly being different in terms of the way

he governed this time around by his pretty early announcement that the U.S. would take some

form of, quote, ownership over Gaza.

So that question, especially when combined with Trump's statement about the U.S. role in Gaza and obviously the broad Middle East, combined with the impact of the in the war in Gaza on the 2024 election, means that the question of what the world looks like after October 7, 2023 is open. So with that in mind, I wanted to have a critic of both the Biden approach to Gaza

and the Trump approach that we see this early in the presidency. My guest is Pankaj Mishra. He is the

author of the World After Gaza, a history. And he's also written a book that's really relevant to

the realignment solicitorship and the issues we're interested in.

It's called Age of Anger, A History of the Present.
