Summary

Hoyt Birge thought he was going to sell drugs to Paige Vowell, but when he got to the residence, her boyfriend Page Briggs and his friends had other plans. They attacked Hoyt and it ended with Patrick Berrane shooting him to death.

0:00.0	On May 9, 2017, Deputy Jeffrey Stole arrived at a house in Tallahassee, Florida to take
0:08.4	a report from a man named Peter Turnie.
0:11.6	Peter explained that he had been driving his mother's 2006 silver Toyota Camry when
0:16.8	he stopped at a local duplex to meet a friend.
0:20.2	From there, a couple of guys from that residence took his car without his permission.
0:26.0	They had driven him to his house and demanded he go inside and get them money, but he was
0:30.9	able to call 911 instead.
0:34.0	The man had left the area by the time the deputy got there so Peter wanted to report
0:38.9	the car stolen.
1:09.2	Page was born on April 18, 1989 and was adopted by the Bartons at some point in her life.
1:18.6	Not much is known about her early life, but she attended the same high school as a young
1:23.0	man named Corey vowel, who was a few grades above her.
1:26.8	Corey started off as a good kid getting good grades and playing soccer, but in his teens
1:31.6	he started doing drugs and getting into trouble.
1:34.8	Not long after the two started dating, they ran off to Panama City together and soon
1:39.6	Page was pregnant.
1:41.4	They had a quick marriage at the courthouse and Corey's parents were shocked when he called
1:45.4	and told them that he was married and would soon be a father.
1:49.2	Eventually, after their son was born in December of 2006, they moved into a loft apartment
1:55.4	that was built in the back of Corey's parents' house.
1:58.8	He tried to keep his life together, working as an electrician, but drugs and alcohol led
2:03.5	to him being fired.
