On the afternoon of January 5, 2016, a woman walking her dog near Coldwater Creek on the

west side of Grand Lake in Warren County, Ohio saw what she thought were human bones.

She took some pictures and called 911 to report the find, thinking she would just send

them the pictures and probably be told they were animal bones.

To her surprise, the Warren County Sheriff's Department sent out a deputy who collected

the remains and they confirmed that they were in fact human.

Not that there would usually be an innocent reason to find human remains in most places,

but authorities confirmed that foul play was definitely involved.

It turned out that the remains were only from a torso and there was no head, no legs

below the knees and no arms past the elbows.

The medical examiner found saw marks on the bones making it evident that the body had

Forensics technicians were able to extract a DNA sample from the bones but weren't able

Not only that, but they tested the isotopes in the bone to try to narrow down a location
