Hello and welcome to Best Laid Plans.

0:12.3

This is Sarah Hart Unger and this is a podcast where we talk all things planning and planning adjacent.

0:17.9

As I record this today is September 14th and I have just finished a really

0:24.0

tough work week. When I take call clinically, I am on call for seven days and seven nights

0:30.2

straight and let me tell you those are not necessarily my favorite weeks of the year and that

0:36.0

is definitely an understatement. I started off with all kinds

0:39.3

of great intentions, but it turned out that this past call week, it was very busy, so I definitely

0:44.6

entered survival mode, and I didn't do all of my planning rituals that I normally do, because really,

0:50.2

the main thing I had to plan was which patients I had to go see and which notes I had to write.

0:54.7

I relied heavily on a notebook, actually, that I got from Simplified.

1:00.1

It's a kind of a soft cover, almost throwaway.

1:04.8

I mean, not throw away, but it's like a staple bound notebook.

1:07.3

And I've been using it to track patients while I'm on call.

1:10.4

I have to be very careful to keep this with me and shred it when I'm been using it to track patience while I'm on call. I have to be very careful to

1:11.7

keep this with me and shred it when I'm done as it does have patient information written in it.

1:17.6

But it's the way that I track who I've seen, who I still have to see, who needs a note written,

1:22.3

who needs orders placed. And that was my main planning companion over this past week.

1:27.1

So I'm grateful to have that happy rainbow stripe little notebook,

1:30.8

and I think I will buy more from when that one runs out for future call weeks.

1:35.5

But now I'm done, and life is opening back up again,

1:39.2

and I'm catching up with everything,

1:40.8

and I'm excited to bring you today's episode.
