Hey everybody welcome back to another episode of the Catholic talk show today. We're going to be talking about Pope Francis's recent comments about homosexuals in the seminary

Yeah, we're looking at Pope Francis's alleged comment. We're going to see what Pope Benedict has said about it and

we're to talk about whether or not it is appropriate for homosexual men to

enter the seminary and to try to become Catholic priests. So, All right. Well, it's been a minute. I just got back from a vacation. So this thing, you know, is kind of hit the Catholic world and I guess my first question would be where are we with this statement is it something that was made up

did he actually say it you know at some point you have to on the internet figure out what the

sources and and figure out whether it's true first what the out and apologize for it. So for people who aren't sure what we're talking about, the Pope was having a closed-door meeting with the Italian Bishop's conference and he was talking about the seminaries and he used a word and my tan is not great Ryan but

prochigenae which translate basically to faggyry, right?

So he's saying there is in the seminaries,

let's not accept any more homosexuals

because there's already too much faggyry there.

Now in Italian, Frotigene, that's, you know, the specific term, but a lot of people are like, wow, I can't believe the Pope said this. You know, I think Italian

being his second language, he might not have realized the strength of that particular word in Italian.

Maybe if he was speaking in Spanish,

he would have said something a little bit differently.

I think he was trying to make the sense of the,

I think what's well known is that there's kind of a homosexual contingent within

the priesthood within seminary's and within the hierarchy of the church and I don't

think that's really a secret but the larger thing is, is that, how does that affect the church?

And I think that's what we should talk about here today.

Yeah, and when I was in the seminary, I remember the Bishop of Tyler, not the one now now but the one previous to him came in

and gave a talk to our seminarians like some people would just drop in and then the

the rector would get somebody to come talk to us.
