I like Daniel Besner. He's erudite. He's deeply thoughtful. He has a theoreticians, a historical theoreticians cast of mind.

He thinks in big, broad, and sweeping categorical terms. He's analytical. He's very well informed. He does have very strong Marxian views, which I don't share.

But I find my conversations with him ennobling. I feel my spirit

is lifted to a certain degree. He's a radical, and he wants to overturn the system. I fear that.

He really, I think, wants to see revolution, and I fear revolution. Both of us wanted the Democrats

to lose. You know, I've been hearing what people are saying in reaction to the outcome of the election

and they're very concerned.

I read Francis Fukuyama in the newspaper this morning and he's concerned about across-the-board

tariffs and effort to mass deport millions upon millions of people, the institutional infrastructure that would be necessary,

the detention, the rounding people up, the camps.

No, I don't think it's going to happen.

But we're going to see, and it's true, in a way, we're kind of at the mercy of what the

victors, how ambitious they are, how wise they are.

I have a positive feeling about the noises that Trump makes about transitioning,

not all at one time, but nevertheless moving in the direction of less entailment of the United

States in the security concerns of countries which are fully capable of defending themselves.

Trump says, yeah, I have a relationship with Putin. That's a good thing, not a bad thing. It's a good thing. That's the adversary. You want to talk to him or you want to go to war with him? Again, I don't know why anybody should care what I think about that, but that's what I think.
