Today's Story, The Gorgon, is one I first read in her collection, Gorgons and other Beastly Tales.

One of the dozen or so books I've carried with me since my early teens.

Tanneth Lee was born September 19th, 1947 and passed away on May 24th, 2015.

Tanneth was a British writer who influenced many areas of genre.

Though she wrote nearly 90 novels, as you'll hear today, Tanneth Lee was also a master of

short fiction, with over 300 published short stories.

Tanneth Lee's influence on contemporary fiction is an often hidden strand of DNA that connects writers of fantasy, science fiction, romance, horror, and

YA.

N. Kemison, Martha Wells, Holly Black, Siesie Cooney, China Meaville, Charlie Jane Anders, Theodora Goss, Nisee Schall, and Terry Windling,

are just a few of the authors who cite Tanneth Lee as deeply influential to their own work.
