Morning, I'm kind of encouraged by some vague signs of common sense from the government this morning.

Now, I'm not talking about this

which I'm sure we'll come to because I think that is a load of absolute nonsense. But this

Shabina Mahmood Justice Secretary move to introduce emergency legislation to try to, as I think

one of the papers this morning has put it, put a surgical block on two-tier

justice. Yes.

Is actually an encouraging sign and quite surprising actually. shows how worried they are.

Well, it is an encouraging sign, but I'm not sure that they've not got themselves into this

entirely by their own hand, because Shabana Mahmood, we were told at at the time didn't have any idea that this sentencing review panel was going to come up with this

idea right um when in fact that was incorrect because she had one of her opos from her department

sitting in on the meeting when they decided to do it and then we then get the next sort of maneuver

which was her saying they can't, you

mustn't do it, we're going to stop you doing it. And the judge is just kind of sticking two

fingers up and saying, well, we're going to do it anyway. You know, it was put to me today,

since Kea Star was able to do away with NHS England, which is a quango, why can't you just do away with the Sentencing Commission as well? Well, I agree with that.

I mean, I think if I were in charge or you were in charge, Mike, that's exactly what we'd do.

We'd just scrap the quang.

It would take legislation to do that, I think.

But if they can rush that, the other legislation through in the day,
