And much of it has centered around the U.S. military, not only a new defense secretary, but also a new way, or let's just say an old way of thinking about our military, where the job is not social experimentation, but in fact defending the American people. Welcome back to Issues Etc. I'm Todd Wilkin, joining us to talk about the need for congressional legislation to eliminate

wokenness in the U.S. military. Elaine Donnelly, she's founder and president of the Center for Military

Readiness. She formerly served on the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services and on the

Presidential Commission on the assignment of women in the armed forces. She's author of a recent column

for the Federalist titled Seven Trump Orders Congress should codify to keep wokeness out of the military.

Elaine, welcome back. Hi, nice to talk with you. There are a lot of expectations for the U.S. Congress make the case that the elimination of

wokeness from the U.S. military should be a top priority.

Well, if the Congress does not act to codify what President Trump has done and also the

Secretary of Defense Pete Hagseth with his implementing memoranda.

If that doesn't happen, then they will be gone the next time a Democrat gets elected president

because they would be ephemeral. It wouldn't be durable. You have to put things in law for them to stick.

And what is happening here is such a vast paradigm shift. It's a positive change.

The administration needs to understand and needs to work with Congress in order to take the

concepts that they have put into executive orders and find ways to put them into law.

So basically, I mean, there was a blizzard of executive orders, and I went through them all.

And I found three basic topics that are covered, meritocracy and non-discrimination, instead of equity for favored groups.
