All right, folks. Welcome to the backcountry hunting podcast. Today we're going to talk about

the Remington 700 rifle with a guy that knows a whole bunch about it, and specifically Remington's custom shop which covers

Remington Marlon Dakota and Nesika Bay firearms with a chap named Carlos Martinez.

Now he's got a deep history with Remington's Custom Shop and with the rifle designs.

This episode was recorded actually some time ago at the Western Hunting and Conservation

Expo in Salt Lake City, Utah and I just had it on hold. It's interesting stuff, of course, like all of these episodes recorded a show. There's some background hum and so forth.

But I just hadn't found just the right time to post it.

Well, now's that time because very soon I'm going to a media event that's kind of an inside

look at where Remington and Remington's Custom Shop is going with the future.

And from the, just the hints that they gave myself and the other media members that will be attending this.

There's some pretty cool stuff coming down the pipe and Remington's making some changes to the

way they manufacture that I think will be very beneficial

to the brand.

Those of you who are Remington loyalists know that there are characteristics of the 700 action that set it above most others

in certain categories. Now Carlos and I talk in depth about these on the

podcast so I won't go into him right up front. There are also some concerns from

the past several years about quality control with Remington.

Peaks and valleys in the quality of the rifles coming off the line.

We'll talk briefly about those two,

but what I really want to point out

is that a coming episode after this media event that I'll be shortly attending, we'll address that in

depth and I think we'll present some answers that are going to be really compelling and joyfully received by those who have been
