I'm Gianna Jalosi with your Fox True Crime Minute. Accused Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex

Huberman returned to court last week for a hearing about DNA evidence in the case.

The 61-year-old architect is accused of murdering seven women dating back to the 1990s. The defense wants nuclear DNA results from rootless hairs found at the six crime scenes to be excluded, claiming they're not accepted as reliable in the scientific community.

But District Attorney

Ray Tierney argues the evidence is sound and he's confident it'll be deemed admissible in court.

Heurman's lawyers are also asking for five separate trials, one for the first three victims found

at Gilgo Beach, the second from Marine Brainerd Barnes found later at Gilgo Beach, and separate

trials for the three victims found

elsewhere. Both sides return to court February 18th when a judge will hear motions about whether

to separate the trials and address the DNA testing methods. Heuerman has pleaded not guilty on all
