We talked the first time. I'll admit to you right now in the podcast. I was a little hungover.

I forget why. I was on my book tour when I was writing a book. And I was to interview you.

We were on the phone. And I was like driving between the Atlanta stop and the Tallahassee stop and I'm hung over I'm like shit I got to talk to

I got to interview west more anyway that was during your 22 campaign yeah and during that

interview you were kind of talking to me about how the Democrats should kind of recapture this mantle

of patriotism there there's a way to do to sell patriotism, progressive patriotism.

And that's kind of what I framed the article on. And so now we're three years later,

Trump's back in there. Kamla tried to do a little bit of this. It was a pretty patriotic campaign.

I'm just wondering what you think about that. Is that still a fruitful path? Is that still something

you're trying to do? Like, where are you at on that?

Yeah, I mean, it's definitely something that I'm doing, but we're doing because it's authentic.

Yeah. You know what I mean? And that's, I think, got to be the key thing is that people need to

know that you're real about it and that you're sincere. And the reason we talk about patriotism is not because it's going to win you electoral points.
