Fall River is known even by non-true crime fans for the infamous murders of Andrew and Abby Borden and the trial of Andrew's daughter Lizzie.

But 60 years before that, the town was rocked by another murder,

and that case is at the center of a new true crime book called The Sinners All Bow.

crime. I know I have a lot of readers in my audience, but I also know that 100% of my listeners

So in this episode, I talked to Kate Winkler Dawson, who is the co-host of Buried Bones and the host of Wicked Words.

You will hear Kate talk more about the podcast in a minute when I play the interview,

but I wanted to first start with the case at the heart of her new book, The Sinners All Bow,

since that's most of what we talk about, and you're going to need this context before you

jump into our conversation. This case goes back to 1832 in Fall River, Massachusetts. Though the Lizzie Borden case

certainly eclipsed this one, eventually, it was a pretty big deal at the time and in the decades after.
