It is my absolute honor to introduce our guest today, Senator Mike Grivel, who is here to discuss

his new book, The Failure of Representative Government and the Solution.

Senator Gravel, welcome to Amped Up.

Thank you for having me and thank you for giving me the opportunity to push my book.

Absolutely. You know, before we get into the book, which is fantastic by the way, and timely, as we are seeing firsthand right now the failure of representative government with our government's

catastrophic response to the coronavirus. But I want to ask you about your

experience as a United States senator and what did it mean to you to serve in the United States Senate and what did it teach you about yourself and about our country?

First off, it was a real honor and good fortune that permitted me to get into the Senate.

And while I was there, I had great reverence for the participation.

And I use this joke on in the debates in a way.

When you first get there, you're just awestruck as how did I get there and then after about six months you turn around you say how the

hell them everybody else get here because it's a very human more human than people realize in governance and participation.

Human emotions and ego and profiteering are very much involved.

Yeah, that actually sums it up pretty well in the United States, ego and profiteering.

You also ran for president twice in both 2008 and in this election in 2020.

Since you've seen the process from the inside as a candidate,

what are your thoughts on the Democratic primary

process overall and in particular the oversized role that our corporate

media plays in the primary process? Corporate media plays more than an oversized role.

They play controlling a role as the agents of the elite who control our entire society.
