In 1998, an unthinkable crime rocked farm community Portageville, Missouri. Sherri Scherer and her 12 year old daughter Megan were shot and killed, and Megan was sexually assaulted, in their own home in a 41 minute window of time. A massive investigation into one of the state’s most heinous crimes ensued. And soon, with the discovery of more and more crimes, the investigation would burgeon into a multi-state investigative effort to catch a killer. Finally, forensic genealogy using DNA collected from an adolescent rape survivor provided answers to the questions that had haunted investigators and families in Missouri, Tennessee, and South Carolina. But many fear that these crimes were just the tip of the iceberg for the monster that was Robert Brashers.

2:02.3	The two worked a full day even though it was Saturday, but as the workday came to an end,
2:06.9	Tony called home and asked his wife Sherry if she wanted to do pizza that night. Is that even a
2:11.6	question? Of course, she said yes. 37-year-old Sherry had stayed home to do laundry, yard work, and other chores that day,
2:19.2	and she definitely didn't want to make dinner for the family of four. They agreed that Tony and
2:23.7	Stephen and Stephen and Tony left the farm they were on, but on their way home, they got stuck in
2:30.0	traffic. Now, this isn't an urban area, far from it, but an accident had just happened on a
2:35.0	narrow country roadway, and the roadway was blocked by a truck that had crashed. This is the kind of
2:40.6	farmland where the county road you're on is the one you need to be on. A detour is a long way
2:45.3	out of the way. So they waited. That delay might have saved Tony and Stephen's lives. Since they couldn't get through,
2:53.0	Tony and Stephen had to wait. Tony chatted with one of the accident scene guys for 15 to 20 minutes
2:57.8	as they waited for a wrecker. Tony told him they were heading home as soon as the road cleared,
3:01.9	which it did at 6.50 p.m. The two finally pulled up to their house at 705. It was March 28, so it was nearly dark by this time.
