If you heard the last show we did we talked a bit as we often do about foreign policy and

As you know, I am a person who wishes to pull back from our hyper interventionist foreign policy

And one of the reasons why and I'd like to kick off today's program pivoting off of that

Is because if you go and you look at the history of empires

Especially empires over the last 200 years

The more modern era, but this trend that I'm basing this off of has sped up as we've gotten closer and closer to our own times

Empires are temporary affairs

The idea that you're going to have another

Roman Empire that for several centuries will be able to continue

You know dominating and experiencing the sorts of

Historic cultural and material wealth highs and all that kind of stuff. I think is a pipe cream

And so if you look at this as sort of a

Lesson in you know, cause and effect. Maybe you would call it the balance of power principles and foreign policy the idea that

Simply by having a hyper power you set into motion certain forces

One is you kind of push the other

You know, powerful states, but not hyper powerful states into

You know friendship with each other if only to balance off your hyper power

So I mean these are these are long understood trends that take place

The earth and the human political system has a way almost like antibodies in the human body to

flow and compensate and and and balance out and to do things like that and there are periods where
