Hello and welcome to season 8 episode 17 of Dark Histories. I'm a host Ben as always.

It's good to be back on the microphone. This is actually a different episode this week.

It's the summer holidays so I'm going to take my sort of

mid-season summer break amusingly. I thought I'd take it in you know the back end of August.

The weather's been awful ever since so there's that.

If you are desperate for a regular episode this week and you don't mind going back and

listening to old episodes, I would recommend

recommend the assassination of Ollian, I think it was called something along those lines.

It came out last season, about the same time actually, it was about August,

last season, because next episode will be set in, well, it's a couple of hundred years later, which is quite a lot, but it's a couple of centuries later in France, and there are some crossovers.

So yeah, that episode would kind of set you up nicely for the next episode, which will obviously be like normal in a couple of weeks.

But yes, this week it's summer holiday, so I thought what I do, I don't like just like not do anything or put out a replay

Despite the fact that I did just say about going to listen to that episode

But yeah, I mean as a podcast listening to myself I always hate it when my feed is just replays for our August from all the

podcasts taking their holidays. So I try and put out at least something. So I thought what I'd do again, as usual,

is read some stories, some old kind of Gothic horror fiction stories, things like that.

Now the thing is with that, is trying to find Gothic horror fiction or, you know, horror fiction that set in the summer to make it sort of you know topical

It's actually really difficult because obviously Gothic horror by default is almost always in kind of dull dark clammy cold places right so yeah

it's quite difficult but it did lead me to Algernon Blackwood who I love a lot. I've had stories of his before either in this

feed or definitely in the Patreon feed where I've done stories for the patron

as bonus episodes and I've definitely done
