Summary

In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are in studio talking about this crazy February breaking news that Chip Kelly bailed on Westwood to take the offensive coordinator position with his buddy Ryan Day at Ohio State, leaving UCLA without a head coach. Our own David Woods breaks down how it all went down including Kelly's attempts to get an OC job in the NFL before Bill O'Brien's departure to become the head coach at Boston College opened up an intraconference soft landing spot for Kelly. A few days after Kelly's departure restarted the college football coaching carousel, athletic director Martin Jarmond found his man. Jarmond interviewed nearly a dozen potential candidates before landing on former UCLA running back and longtime assistant DeShaun Foster. Following the season Foster left Westwood to become the running backs coach at the Las Vegas Raiders, but was lured back for an opportunity to run the Bruins program as they head into the Big Ten. Dave and Ryan both give their thoughts on the hire and what challenges Foster will face taking over for a head coach that didn't recruit, didn't raise money and didn't leave much in the cupboard for Foster to compete in any conference let alone the stacked Big Ten. As usual Ryan and Dave end the podcast answering listener emails and questions from the YouTube chat. For the video simulcasts of our POC please subscribe to your YouTube channel!
