Hey everybody, welcome back to Cold Case Murder Mysteries, I'm your host Ryan Kraus and

we're about to descend into the madness that is Ed Geen's adulthood, picking up where

we left off in the years following his mother's death in which his steady decline led him

to committing murder.

Now, we ended the last episode with Ed locked away inside his home, surrounded by filth

and piles of junk and with the windows covered so that no light got in, leaving the place

a far cry from the immaculate farmhouse his mother kept until the mid-1940s.

When health issues and ultimately death gave way to Ed's increasing isolation, his mental

health consistently deteriorated along with the home in seemingly perfect symbiosis.

The more Ed came apart inside his head, the more evident it became within his home.

And so, while Eddie Geen continued to have a few visitors here and there until the early

1950s, the macabre environment within the home eventually precluded having company in

order to keep the secrets.

Brothers had started to swirl about the odd little man, but beyond that, what was worse

is that the local children began to consider the home haunted.

That rumor evolved into one where Eddie's dead mother Augusta appeared as a terrifying

ghostly apparition and could be seen outside late at night protecting the home, warding

off the curious intruders.

One young neighbor spoke of the necessity of having to pass the farmhouse every day when

returning from school, and how he would sprint past at each time.

Yet he suggested it wasn't Ed Geen that scared him at all.

It was the house.
