May 27, 1978, Walterboro, South Carolina. The residents of that quaint little town were disturbed that one of its

residents, 26-year-old Gwendolyn Elaine Fogle, was found dead after being assaulted, raped, and murdered in her home.

She had just babysat for a friend and was looking forward to seeing her immediate family the next day,

as they were due to celebrate her mother's birthday.

Elaine left her friends home at the end of her babysitting shift at around 11.15

p.m. and stopped off at a store called the Zippy Mart on the way home, so she would have arrived

at her house at around 1130 p.m.
