Over the past week, the world has seen and heard about horrible things coming out of Afghanistan,

people being trapped in the country, some trying to escape, even by holding on to departing airplanes,

sometimes falling off to their deaths, bombs exploding at the Kabul airport, mothers throwing

their babies over barbed wire, and just maddening stories of

incompetence, like U.S. officials giving the Taliban a list of names of Americans and Afghan allies

to say nothing of the equipment and weaponry being left to the Taliban. Decisions that were made

in the White House over the past few administrations are now being scrutinized in light of these events.

And as a podcast on presidents, we wanted to provide some of that perspective given just all of the news and all the things people are talking about.

To help us sift through all of this is a former Army intelligence soldier who had earned the

Bronze Star in Afghanistan, so he's been on the ground and has a lot of experience and

knowledge to share about his time there. He's also the host of two podcasts, the Weekly

Havoc and Savage Wonder. His name is Christopher Paul Meyer.
