The flurry of executive orders coming out of the White House includes several relating to education.

Cato's Neil McCluskey separates the good from the bat.

A lot of the executive orders that have come out of the White House in the last few weeks, you know, a couple of them have been sort of flatly contradicted by certain amendments to the U.S. Constitution.

But others are meant, it seems, to just sort of lay the groundwork for other work that, of course, should be done by

Congress. When it comes to education, what has been the most notable that you have seen coming

out of the White House? Well, the president has certainly had a lot of executive orders, and several of

them are applicable to education.

And they're probably run on all sorts of different levels. Some of them, I think, are not problematic at

all. Many of them undo things that the Biden administration did where the federal government

was overreaching into education. The Biden administration

promulgated, for instance, Title IX regulations about, you know, who can access which bathroom.

And the Trump administration said, we're undoing those. Now, they'd also already been stopped by

courts, so this was pretty easy to do. And they said, we're reverting those. Now, they'd also already been stopped by courts, so this was pretty

easy to do. And they said, we're reverting back to Title IX regs as they exist in 2020. And if you're

undoing overreach that the president before you did, it doesn't seem to be constitutionally

suspicious at all. I mean, it was an executive action. You're undoing that executive action. And in this case, it was also already blocked by court. So it seems that was

pretty reasonable. Then it is, though, delved into things where you start to get a little nervous,

where the Trump administration and Trump himself and many supporters have been engaged in

culture war from a conservative perspective. And certainly undoing some things that the Biden

administration did in the culture war is still part of culture war, but it's not the same as
