Welcome to another episode of Why Are You Laughing, a history of comedy podcast.

And today, I am pleased to introduce to you one of the all-time greats, Richard

Pryor.

We've done a Richard Pryor episode before about live on the Sunset Strip, his classic special after an incident that we'll discuss today.

But we've made it this far, you know, 150 something episodes in or whatever we are.

And never talked about the life of Richard Pryor, which is pretty insane because if you don't already know, as you'll

find out today, maybe the craziest life in comedy. He's not just one of the two guys that

everyone mentions as the greatest ever. It's always prior and Carlin, prior and Carlin.

But he's maybe lived the craziest life of anyone we've talked about. We have the most clips I think we've ever had today,

other than maybe like an Opian Anthony episode or something.

So,

excited to talk about it because it's amazing what this guy did throughout his career

and the life he led.
