We've been following the progress of the church from Pentecost on through the various

missionary journeys, the Jerusalem Council, all the things that happened in Antioch, the

splitting up of Paul and Barnabas, Paul's guidance by the spirit across Asia Minor into

Philippi and Macedonia on his second missionary journey.

We've just been looking at this from the perspective of the leading of the spirit.

And the reason this is valuable to us, and it's valuable to me,

is because it shows me how God works.

If you can see how God worked in the lives of the apostles,

you can see how he works today. And I think sometimes, and I know I'm guilty of this,

sometimes we just overlook God. We tend to think he's not here. He's not watching. But he is. And learning how to be conscious of the leading of the

spirit is a very, very big part of being a Christian. You have in Acts 1616 a story of the

woman, the young woman, who was possessed with the spirit of divination.

And it came to pass as we went to prayer.

A certain damsel possessed with the spirit of divination met us, which brought her

masters much gained by soothsaying or fortune-telling.

The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, these men are servants of the Most High God

would show unto us the way of salvation. And this did she many days, but Paul being grieved, turned

and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her, and he came
