0:24.0 | I'm excited about where we are today. So if you got your scriptures with you, we're in Jonah chapter 4. |
0:29.0 | If you don't, I want to read it to you. It's a short chapter. I'm going to read you Jonah chapter 4 |
0:33.0 | and it's going to be weird and then we'll pray and jump into it this morning. |
0:40.0 | So Jonah chapter 4 beginning in verse 1 says this. |
0:45.0 | But it displeased Jonah exceedingly and he was angry. |
0:50.0 | And he prayed to the Lord and said, oh Lord, is this not what I said when I was yet in my own country? |
0:57.0 | That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish. For I knew that you're a gracious God and merciful, |
1:04.0 | slow to anger, abounding instead fast love and relenting from disaster. |
1:09.0 | Therefore now, oh Lord, please take my life for me. For it is better for me to die than to live. |
1:16.0 | And the Lord said, do you do well to be angry? |
1:22.0 | Jonah went out of the city and sat to the east of the city and made a booth for himself there. |
1:26.0 | And he sat under it in the shade till he should see what would become of the city. |
1:30.0 | Now the Lord got appointed a plant and made it come up over Jonah that it might be shade over his head |
1:35.0 | to give save him from his discomfort. So Jonah was exceedingly glad because of the plant. |
1:41.0 | But when the dawn came the next day, God appointed a worm that attacked the plant so that it withered. |
1:48.0 | And when the sun rose, God appointed a scorching east wind and the sun beat down on the head of Jonah |
1:53.0 | so that he was faint and he asked that he might die and he said, it's better for me to die than to live. |
1:59.0 | But God said to Jonah, do you do well to be angry for the plant? |
