there may be a logical explanation, depending on

where you are. Robotaxies are hitting the road. Autonomous vehicles that can pick you up and take

you where you need to get to are being tested in an increasing number of cities, whether you like it or not.

After spending tens of billions of dollars in development, members of the public can use

apps to hail driverless

taxis in Phoenix, San Francisco, and Austin, Axios reports. But that list could grow by a dozen

or more within the year. Currently, 23 states have laws that allow autonomous vehicle or AV testing

or deployment, according to the Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association.

13 have no laws at all, while a handful of states in the Northeast allow only testing.
